Rooted in Winter | Monika
The deep call of our ancestors brought both me and Monika to Poland last year, uprooting us from the US. Rooting down into the winter here, we channel the power of the woods—pulling from that deep knowing, melting into Nature.
There is a moment in every photographic journey where the body softens, the weight of shame dissolves, and trust takes its place. Trust in self. In presence. In being seen. This is the work. The alchemy. The reason I return, again and again, to the lens.
This journey was my first this year (2025), the first moment I stepped out of hibernation and back into the rhythm of creation with another being since arriving in Poland. Monika moved with a quiet intensity, as if listening to something just beyond the veil—something ancient, something alive.
